Snow and rodent populations

December 27, 2017

We recently just had our first snow event here in western Washington.  Our phone calls have been up for rat infestations in Puyallup, Spanaway, Auburn, Tacoma, and everywhere in between because of it.  A common question is won't the cold weather, freeze, and snow take out the rodent population?  The answer is that it will lower the numbers, but the truth is that rats are survivalist and the snow actually creates intense pressures on homes around the puget sound area.  The rats will do what ever it takes to get into your warm insulated crawl spaces, attics, and walls.  If this means chewing their way in or tunneling under the foundation they will.  Please read our other post on signs of a rodent infestation for more information on entry points.

If you suspect that the cold weather and snow has lead to rodents finding their way into your home please contact us Modern Pest Control your local family owned and operated pest control company in Pierce and south King county.
